Wet clammy hands are both
annoying as well as embarrassing. Topical options such as OTC antiperspirants
as well as oral medications are commonly used to alleviate excessive sweating
in hands. But here are some natural cures for clammy hands.
Apply baking powder:
Baking powder is known for its
drying properties. Wash your hands with soap and pat dry. Then sprinkle some
baking powder on your palms and let it stay on overnight. It will quickly soak
up any excess moisture on your skin and keep it dry for several hours.
You can also dip your hands in a
mildly concentrated baking soda solution for 5 to 10 minutes. Do not wash your
hands, just pat dry with a paper towel. To enhance the drying powers of baking
soda, mix it with cornstarch in equal proportion.
Dip in sage tea:
Sage tea is known to reduce
perspiration by preventing the sweat glands from producing excessive sweat. Boil
one pint of water in a pan and add 3 to 4 sage teabags to it. Let the tea steep
for 10 to 15 minutes. Now remove the teabags and add two quarts of water to the
brewed tea. Dip your hands in this mixture for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash
off with soap and warm water to remove any tea stains.
Alternatively, you can drink sage
tea. One or two cups of this herbal tea should be sufficient.
Drink turnip juice:
Turnip juice is a little known
home remedy for sweaty palms, but those who tried, found it to be really
effective in relieving symptoms of palmar hyperhidrosis. Extract juice of two
turnips by grating them with a cheese grater and then squeezing the grated
flesh. Drink this juice once daily for a couple of weeks and you will start
noticing an improvement in your sweating patterns. You can also apply turnip
juice directly onto the palms of hands for 10 to 15 minutes daily.
Natural Remedies need your time and patience!
The only drawback of these natural
remedies is that they require time and patience to work, and in this era of
technology, people have everything but time. They are always looking for procedures
that give instant results. Over the counter antiperspirants, with aluminum
chloride as an active ingredient are mostly used to curb sweating in part of
the body, including palms of hands. But in case of palmar hyperhidrosis, these
OTC antiperspirants as well prescribed antiperspirants fail to deliver.
Try Botox injections:
The most effective treatment for
palmoplanter hyperhidrosis nowadays is Botox injections. Botox or botulinum
toxin is injected directly into the skin using very fine needles, deep enough
to reach the sweat glands. Botulinum toxin is popular not only for its ability
to instantly relieve excessive sweating symptoms but also because it gives
lasting results and that too without causing any serious side effects. The toxin
is injected directly into the skin where it works by sticking itself to the
nerve endings responsible for the transmission of chemical signals that
activate sweat glands.
Dubai Cosmetic Surgery also
offers Hyperhidrosis treatment.
